Mar 24- We LOVE Readers' Theatre! Reading scripts of Cinderella! :) They had a blast! :) We may have some actors/actresses in the midst.

Feb 14- I got NO pictures from the party! :( We had inside recess all day, so we had to make sure to get the wiggles out! Carson and Sebastian made a pretty cool picture with unifix cubes.

Jan 27- We did a task menu over our bear studies where we got to choose a product to make! Some chose to make a map of a setting of a bear story we read, some wrote a letter to a bear from our stories, some made a game board, and some made a bear poster with facts and pictures. When everyone finished, they presented their work to each other one at a time. (Great speaking skills!)
Jan 23- We were walking back from the library, but just had to stop and watch the construction!! The kids were mesmerized! (I was too lol!) We learned that the piece of concrete they lifted up weighed 35,000 pounds! There was also a man who held on to a long chain connected to make it turn. We cheered them on and waved wildly, and laughed! It was great :) Emma and Maya also enjoyed dressing up her bear! :)

Jan 4 & 5- Lots and lots of inside recess time!! We also learned a new game "Ducky Wucky!" The kids LOVE it!!! It is pretty hilarious watching them try to make each other giggle with their strangest voice/faces!!!
Dec 19- We had a blast at our Winter party- bingo, tons of food, and a book exchange were awesome! :) THank you to everyone who helped out with this!
Dec 20- Christmas caroling downtown! SO fun! We got free hot chocolate and candy canes which was awesome! Emma and I matched in our ugly sweaters!

Dec 16- I had a ton of girls in my little pom cluster that are in our class, so I went ahead and shared some pictures from the performance they got to dance at the basketball game :) We also had a delicious gingerbread cookie after our week of gingerbread centers that stemmed from our Jan Brett author study! They loved them :)

Nov 10- We learned about the different branches of the military and Mr. Mike came and told us about the AWACS planes and some facts about the air force. They mostly were intrigued about camel spiders in the desert.

Oct 14- WE LOVE PUMPKINVILLE!!! They had so much fun exploring, climbing, crafting, and being silly. Pumpkinville was awesome (my first time to go!) So I just enjoyed every minute! Thank you all for so many volunteers/chaperones! That was an incredible help!
We also had an assembly that afternoon for Red Ribbon Week and learned about saying no to drugs. A 2nd and 4th grade teacher both participated in a dunk contest by bouncing on the trampoline and Kailyn from our class got jumped over by the police officer!

Oct 11- We talked about how to play dominoes, and about adding the sides of a domino together. Then, we broke up into groups and came up with equations/questions to ask the rest of the class to see if they could guess what number was on our domino!
Oct 7- Snack and Recess fun! It was coolllddd today!!
Oct 10- We got candy treats from Marsha at Canterbury Voices and another nice lady at the Philharmonic office on our way back from the library. Then we checked out the cool new parking garage. There is a little sensor on the north side and any colors you put in front of it, the lights up above will change to be the same color.

Oct 6- Maggie's Mom came and read The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes to us and we learned a very important lesson- that it is ok to mess up sometimes, and to always keep trying at everything we do.
Oct 5- APPLE PIE AND APPLE COOKIE COOKING LESSONS FROM MIMS AND IVAN!! This was SOO much fun!! The kids absolutely loved every part of it- from wearing aprons, to taste testing and making their goodies. They did so well at being good listeners and making sure they followed directions so they could do a good job. :) We wrote the recipes for making a pie and apple cookie with the ingredients and directions when we got back to the room!

Project Lead the Way- this is the third week of the pictures from our Light & Sound project.
Sept 23- We explored how light reflects off some surfaces (such as mirrors), shines through and shows only certain colors (colorful lenses) and refracts (through prisms- we used a spectroscope).

Project Lead the Way- this is the first two weeks of the pictures from our Light & Sound project- The problem the students were trying to solve was from a story describing a group of children and adults on a camping trip who split up on two different trails. One group got lost and they needed to find a way to communicate to the other group and get out of the woods.
Sept 9- We explored different objects and the way we hear sounds through sound waves/vibrations- we heard different sounds of rubber bands around a cup and on top of a cup, sounds of metal water bottles, and stethoscopes.

We also hear the sound a tuning fork makes when you strike it against another object or hold it next to another tuning fork to transfer the sound waves. We also made cup phones and decided that you have to pull the string tight to carry the vibration and be able to hear your friend clearly in your cup.

Sept 29- Maggie is explaining her inventions that she made at her house. We talked about how we can all be inventors and got some great ideas from Maggie. :)

Sept 28- Our mystery reader (Eli's mom) came to read us a fall book Squirrel's Busy Day, which was a hit!

Sept 26- Kaycee's dad and coworkers came to visit and talk with us about the importance of saving money! We were very good at coming up with ideas about what we could save our money for (mostly bigger/better toys instead of a stinky ol' gum ball every time we see candy!) We love Earnie the eagle!!

Sept 7 Recess fun and math work stations building and measuring. We also did so good during the hearing screening to be quiet and respectful to our friends.
Aug 31- WE LOVE STATIONS!! SO engrossed in our books, we read with stuffed animal buddies, and are doing fabulous :)
Aug 30- We started centers today and we had a smelling test to use our sense of smell! The smells were vinegar<-- lol, coffee, mint, pepper, garlic<-- LOL, and vanilla
Aug 29- Hilarious!! We did a taste test to focus on our sense of taste (5 senses)- let's just say Baker's unsweetened chocolate will not be on anyone's wish list this year!! :) they all spit it out haha, and I could not stop laughing
